Homework Extra Credit

 
Last week I showed you the causes of the Civil War in America the Story of Us: Division.  This week we will continue looking at the different causes.
 
Answer these questions on your homework for extra credit:
  1. Where did slavery begin in the American colonies?
  2. Who invented the cotton gin?
  3. Who wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin?
  4. How many escaped slaves are estimated to have been helped to freedom along the Underground Railroad?

  1. In what state can you find Santa Anna's leg?
  2. In what museum can you see Santa Anna's leg?
  3. At the Battle of Palo Alto, General Taylor used a superior artillery to defeat the Mexican Army.  What was the nickname of the artillery unit?
  4. Who developed this artillery innovation?
  5. At the battle, he was mortally wounded.  A fort was named in his honor.  Where in Texas is that fort located?

Don't worry about a parent signature because your homework Monday is due before you start Benchmark testing.  Your homework can be done in pen, pencil, or highlighter.

I was born on January 8, 1804 in Nashville.  I'm important to the Texas Revolution because  I wrote the Texas Declaration of Independence.  I died on October 6, 1841.  How did I die?  Put the answer on your homework for extra credit/bonus points.

  4. Finish the tasks in the Top 3 and earn a 100 for every assignment in March.
  5. Finish the tasks in the Top 4-9 and earn a 100 for every homework in March.
